OSRS Ironman progression chart

This chart is the order to get gear and unlocks on an Ironman: 158 steps, from your first quests to the Inferno, each with the reason it sits where it does. Tick steps off as you get them, import your boss kills from the hiscores, and share your progress with one link.

It is built for a standard Ironman. Every name opens its own page on this site with sources, drop rates and requirements; the full ladders per slot are on Ironman gear progression.

How the order was worked out

The order comes from this site's own data. Gear follows our upgrade ladder for each slot, so a whip always comes before the tentacle and Barrows gloves before ferocious gloves. Quests follow our Ironman quest priority and the early-game route: XP quests and travel first, then the big account unlocks.

Every step is then checked against its requirements: the quests, skill levels and Slayer levels each quest, boss and item needs. Anything on the chart that a step depends on, at any depth, comes before it, and a test fails if it ever doesn't. Inside the endgame, raid uniques follow drop luck, so treat that order loosely.

Want bosses in order instead? Read the Ironman boss order, or look yourself up in the planner for a plan built from your stats.

Questions

What order should an Ironman get gear in?
Quests and travel first, then Barrows gloves, the fire cape, Slayer weapons (whip, trident, tentacle) and the Dagannoth Kings rings. After that come God Wars, Zulrah, Prifddinas crystal gear, Vorkath, Cerberus boots, the Alchemical Hydra and Desert Treasure II, and finally raids, Nex and the Inferno. The chart lists all 158 steps in that order.
How is this chart different from other Ironman progression charts?
Every step links to a full page on this site saying where the item comes from and what it needs. The order is checked against quest, skill and boss requirements, so nothing appears before something it depends on. You can import your boss kills from the hiscores instead of ticking everything by hand, and the whole chart is readable without logging in.
Do I have to follow the order exactly?
No. It is the order that suits most standard Ironmen, not a rule. Skip a step you do not want, take a boss earlier if your stats allow it, and tick things as you get them. The next-5 panel always shows the first steps you have not ticked.
Can the chart read my progress from the hiscores?
Partly. A boss kill count above zero proves the first kill and the quests that boss needs, levels prove unlocks that only need levels, and the fire cape, infernal cape and Dizana’s quiver come with their first completion. The hiscores do not list items, so the rest of the gear is a manual tick.
Where is my progress saved?
In your browser. If you sign in, it is also saved to your RSGoals account and follows you to other devices. The share button makes a link that holds only your ticks.
