Ironman verdict

Iron sq shield is a free-to-play item. Other players trade it, but an Ironman cannot use the Grand Exchange or trade, so you get your own. We list 3 shops, 1 recipe and 1 other source for it.

The easiest way is to buy it: the cheapest of the shops that stock it is Cassie's Shield Shop in Falador, at 168 coins each. You can also make it with 23 Smithing from 2 × Iron bar at an anvil. Each one made gives 50 Smithing XP. It also comes from Simple lockbox.

The material you can buy or make: Iron bar (2 needed), made with 15 Smithing.

It is worn in the shield slot; its biggest bonuses are +9 slash defence and +8 stab defence. Shops stock it in 3 places, including Falador, Cam Torum and Mistrock.

No recipe in our data uses it as a material. High Alchemy (55 Magic) turns one into 100 coins. Each cast uses a nature rune, 180 coins from a rune shop, and five fire runes that a fire staff replaces, so an alch loses about 80 coins; only alch it to clear space.
